Well, here we are again, at West Brom
show. We have been frantically checking the weather forecasts all week
as they have been very poor, but the sun shines on the righteous, and
despite the poor predictions, it was sunny and quote pleasant.
As Steve and Chris are not native to West Brom, we always meet at
McDonald's for breakfast, which is the opposite side of the road to West
Bromwich Albion football club.
The Monday motors in Muckies car park. Once again the
Baggies have been promoted to the Premier League, this time with 3 games
to spare.
Suitably full of excessive amounts of fat, salt, and grease, we
headed off to the show. We must have been keen as we were the 1st to
arrive at the Jensen stand.
All on our little lonesome. We have all been assigned
culinary tasks for the day. Chris was in charge of curry and naan bread,
I was in charge of pork pies and cheese, and Steve in charge of pop and
cake. Chris had experimented with cooking naan bread in the engine bay.
It had worked a treat with one very tasty Peshwari naan being ready.
We decided to have a look around the auto jumble stands.
And as we retired for 11s' is, Steve checked out his new compression
tester.
While I broke out the cranberry and pork pies.
Chris is now convinced that everyone thinks he is a right fat bast*rd
as he is always in pictures eating, so I volunteered to save his
blushes.
We felt the need for some work to burn off some of the calories we
had scoffed so far, so we finished off the mapped ignition unit for
Steve's V12 XJS. If it works ok on the Jag, then we can experiment on a
version for the Jensen's
While Chris did some tuning on his fuel injection...
I took a walk around the Jensen stand and took some snaps of the
cars.
The Monday motors again
Coupe
Anti concours After all that graft, it was time for lunch,
so we got the curry on.
Apart from a slight mishap when Chris trod in it, it was excellent.
And so were the naan bread
Steve was in charge of pop, and to help keep me and Chris healthy, he
got us a reduced sugar version.
Ahh, bless! So we tucked in as we were rather peckish after all
this excitement.
Right, time for some more sight seeing. First off were the classic
bikes.
Then on to the cars
It was now time for Tiffin, so out came the cheese.
And the biscuits
Gouda, smoked Stilton, 2 year old extra mature Cheddar, and Stinking
Bishop
I had driven up choking on the smell of the Stinking Bishop I had
bought. Luckily it tastes better than it smells! Chris enjoys
the 2 year old Cheddar.
And nearly faints at the smell of the Stinking Bishop
Just time to finish off with a nice slice of home made cake
Happy campers
It was getting near to going home time, so one last waltz around
before going home
Well, that about wraps it for another year. A good day all in all,
the weather was kind, the food great, and good to see some old friends.
It Technical day next week, so tune in for the next thrilling
chapter! |
