9th June 2024 Course

West Bromwich 1130-1430

We will be hosting a 2.5 hours course with Sensei Roger Vickerman 6th Dan Renshi Wado Ryu at the YMCA in West Bromwich. This will be an excellent event for anybody wishing to experience Wado Ryu Karate with one of the country's top practitioners, and learn what makes Wado Ryu so unique. Places are limited and will book up fast, so please book now if you want to reserve a space.

Driving - The YMCA, 38 Carter's Green, West Bromwich, B70 9LG (map) is 8 minutes from the M5 Junction 1 by car and at the top of West Bromwich town centre. It is very easy to get to if driving and has extensive on-site parking for visitors that is free, but you muist register your car at reception on the car park terminal.

Trains - It also has good rail links via Sandwell & Dudley train station but you will need to take a taxi or bus from the station into West Bromwich Town centre (1.9 miles), the No.4/4H/4M (To Walsall - cross over the road to the stop outside the Railway pub) all go to West Bromwich Bus Station where you can walk up to the YMCA (approx. 11 minutes) or switch to the 47/74/79 bus for a 2 minute ride up the high street. We would recommend walking and getting yourself moving for the course ahead! There are direct links from Birmingham and Wolverhampton by tram (Dudley Street Guns Village stop). The tram stop is 2 minutes' walk to the YMCA. Sadly no airport, but there are direct trains from Birmingham international to Sandwell & Dudley that takes 30-40 minutes and costs ~£6 return. See the information above about arriving at Sandwell & Dudley for getting to the venue.

West Bromwich is easy to get to by car from the North West (M6/M5), South west (M5), East/South East (M40 or M1/M6/M5), North (M1 or A38/M6/M5) or the West (M54). Again if coming by car use the car park to the side of the centre and let reception know when you arrive so they can help you register your car for free parking.

If anybody wants to stay overnight there are a few options in and around West Bromwich, but Contact us if you want recommendations.

The YMCA has full changing facilities as well as an on-site cafe and vending machines for refreshments. training will commence in the hall at 12pm so please arrive at least 15 minutes before to be ready.
