Top Tips!

These are some of the things we have tried, and found to work well.

Note! There is some bad news as well as good. See Failures! for details.

1. Cooling:                                              High flow thermostat

High flow thermostats for big increases in coolant flow.

2. Heater valve: Available from Customville, Part No "STANT 20201"

3. Exhaust manifold gaskets:                Manifold Gasket

Re-usable gaskets. No more leaks, and cost effective.

Note!  They are designed for headers, but can be used with cast manifolds. If you do, make sure you match the gasket to the cast manifold, as they can be fitted in more than one way, and some ways fit better than others.

4. Spark Plug Leads (UK):                Formula Power.

10mm, high temperature, racing leads (as used by Aston Martin racing team) Comes with a 10 year guarantee.

5. Spark Plugs:                                     Autolite

Autolite spark plugs come with a 2 year guarantee. The model for the Interceptor (383 and 440) is "85" for the resistor model, and AP85 for the platinum model. These may last a lot longer than ordinary plugs, which seem to fail after very few miles.  Martin Robey's now stock them.

6. Air filters:                                           K and N (UK) or  K and N (world)

Try a K and N air filter. They are re-useable (10 year warranty), and just require cleaning as necessary. Saves on cost, and gives better than stock air flow. E-1530 fits the MK3 440.

7. Brake Pads:                                      EBC Brakes

Makers of "Green Stuff" Kevlar brake pads. We have failed to kill them at Castle Coombe race track, and we tried REALLY hard! And next to no brake dust, so less wheel cleaning. Which is nice.
